Alex Blair focuses his practice on the defense of complex toxic tort matters, with a particular focus on products and premises liability claims. He has defended many different types of clients against claims in both federal and state court, including manufacturers of a wide variety of heavy industrial equipment, and owners of food, beverage and refining facilities. In addition to practicing in Illinois state courts and all federal districts in Illinois, Alex has appeared in sensitive depositions on behalf of clients in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York courts.
Prior to joining MG+M, Alex worked at a national Chicago-based litigation firm for many years. Alex also has experience in insurance coverage disputes, mediations and declaratory judgment actions in both state and federal court. He practiced as a fellowship attorney at the Domestic Violence Legal Clinic in Chicago, where he helped domestic violence survivors obtain orders of protection.
While attending the University of Notre Dame Law School, he was secretary of the Student Bar Association and participated in the Intensive Trial Advocacy Program. A native of Houston, Alex holds a BA in journalism from the University of Texas at Austin. He was a sportswriter prior to attending law school and is involved in the Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel, the Illinois State Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association and the Notre Dame Club of Chicago. Outside of work, he enjoys running, visiting his family’s ranch outside Houston, birdwatching and volunteering at Mission of Our Lady of the Angels in Chicago’s West Humboldt Park neighborhood. Alex resides in the Chicago suburbs with his wife and daughter.
