Adam Hays

The Mississippi Court of Appeals, in a unanimous decision, recently affirmed a directed verdict on behalf of a premises defendant obtained by Adam Hays of MG+M’s Hattiesburg office.

In October 2015, Harrison County Circuit Judge Chris Schmidt directed a verdict for the defendant in a slip and fall trial (Moore v. Rouses Enterprises). Moore failed to meet her burden of proof for the premises-liability claim, thus the claim was dismissed with prejudice. Moore filed a motion for reconsideration of the ruling, which the trial court denied. On appeal, in May 2017, the Court of Appeals of the State of Mississippi found no error and affirmed the judgment.
