Overview

Carmen Sandgren focuses her practice on complex civil litigation with an emphasis in representing defendants in the toxic tort area. Throughout her career she has successfully represented manufacturers, distributors, contractors, suppliers and premise owners in multi-party litigation involving exposure to various toxins.

Immediately after receiving her JD from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 1999, Carmen served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Phyllis Halsey Atkins, Magistrate in the United States Federal Court, District of Nevada. In that capacity, she drafted judicial opinions pertaining to all phases of civil litigation and criminal law. During law school, Carmen was a Brief Editor on the nationally ranked Moot Court team as well as a member of the La Raza Law Students Association. In 1995 Carmen received her BA in Central and European History with a minor in Political Science from the University of California, Davis.

Carmen grew up in Sonoma County and hasn’t gone far, as she now resides in Mill Valley with her husband and four children. When she isn’t working, she’s usually cheering from the stands at one of her children’s sporting events, volunteering with youth sports, or attending a board meeting for the Tamalpais High School Boosters.
