Overview

John Kurowski leads a team of outstanding lawyers across the country providing exemplary service to businesses nationwide and globally.

Often retained to handle some of the most-complex litigation in the country, John and his team evaluate, manage and mitigate risks for businesses. He brings a wealth of experience in commercial, asbestos and toxic exposure; education; and government matters to trials and strategy development and litigation tactics for his clients. He has been selected to serve as national coordinating counsel (NCC) for a variety of entities over the past 25 years, including for four major entities in the United States today. He also manages MG+M’s international litigation and its European affiliation with SLSLEX in Italy.

John’s interest and experience in law and social justice spans more than 40 years. He takes pride in teaching and giving back. He has been a Visiting Professor of Law at the Nicolaus Copernicus University School of Law in Torun, Poland, teaching human rights and American civil litigation. He is the creator, organizer and sponsor of a widely acclaimed annual Human Rights Symposium that is cosponsored today by Loyola and the University of Warsaw, that focuses on international social justice issues and has been held since 2006.

He was a board member for many years and remains an active participant in the greater St. Louis chapter of JDRF, the world’s largest nonprofit funder of type 1 diabetes research. He served as board president from 2018 to 2020 and previously on the JDRF International Board of Directors Finance Committee.

John received a BA (Honors) degree from Loyola University Chicago, graduating cum laude in history in 1975. He also attended the Loyola University John Felice Rome Center in Rome, Italy, in 1973–74. He received his law degree from St. Louis University in 1978. Today he is a member and chairman of the John Felice Rome Center Advisory Council, which advises the director on the direction of the program. He is also a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council of the College of Arts and Sciences of Loyola University Chicago. In June 2013, Loyola presented John with its John Felice Award in recognition of his contributions to the Rome Center, Loyola, business and his community.

John is licensed to practice law in Illinois, Missouri and New York. He is a member of the Illinois and Missouri State Bar Associations; St. Clair County, Illinois, Bar; East St. Louis, Illinois, Bar (President, 1990–91), and American Bar Association.

John and his wife, Connie, are active members of the Society of Fellows of the Aspen Institute and the Ignatian Legacy Fellows.
