Matthew Sauerwein is a native of Belleville, Illinois. He received his undergraduate degree at Missouri State University where he majored in Accounting and later received his law degree from the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Law. Today as an attorney, Matt concentrates his practice in complex civil litigation and toxic tort defense.
Matt clerked each summer while in Law School, initially reviewing and editing documents at Gilmore & Bell and finally working directly with clients on a variety of matters at The Reaves Law Firm. Following his second year of law school, Matt advocated for clients before the Internal Revenue Service through the Kansas City Tax Clinic.
While attending law school, Matt served as a member of various legal journals including the Urban Lawyer, UMKC Law Review, and the Journal of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. He also volunteered with the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys and was a board member of the UMKC Estates and Trusts Society.
Matt is licensed to practice in Missouri and Illinois and is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, the Missouri Bar Association, and the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis.
